After attending an event in Washington, DC centered around rededicating America to God, one phrase stayed deeply in my spirit:

“It’s not about the donkey or the elephant… it’s about the Lamb.”

Today, while praying and asking God what my next podcast episode should be about, I stopped at a red light beside a truck carrying heavy machinery. Written on the side was John 14:6.

In that moment, I knew what I was asked to talk about.

This episode is a heartfelt conversation about dependency on Jesus, the danger of placing our hope in anything above Him, and what it truly means to rededicate our lives to Christ, not just emotionally, but daily and fully.

Together, we explore how Jesus is still the Way, the Truth, and the Life in a world full of distractions, noise, opinions, and misplaced devotion. Through Scripture, reflection, and encouragement, this episode is an invitation to return to the center: Jesus.

Welcome to Roundtable Conversations with Yolimar, a space for real, faith-centered conversations about life. I'm Yolimar and I invite you to come with an open heart and mind as we grow together in truth, healing, and God's love. This past Sunday, I was in Washington, D.C. for America's 250th anniversary, a celebration of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. And throughout the day, there was this repeated theme, a call to rededicate America back to God. There was one phrase in particular that stood out to me. It's not about the donkey or the elephant, it's about the lamb. And honestly, I haven't stopped thinking about that. Today, while I was driving home from the supermarket asking God what my podcast episode should be about, I stopped at a red light and there was a truck beside me. And written on the side of that truck was John fourteen six. And I just sat there thinking, Okay, God, I hear you. John fourteen six says, Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Not a way, not one option among many, the way, the truth and the life. And I think one of the greatest struggles today is misplaced dependence. We place our hopes in people, in politics, in platforms, in opinions, in money, in status. And while those things may have influence, they were never meant to sit on the throne of our hearts. That phrase, it's not about the donkey or the elephant, it's about the lamb was such a powerful reminder for me. Because somewhere along the way, many people made everything else to focus. And friends, without Jesus at the center, everything else eventually collapses. Colossians one sixteen through seventeen says for in him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities, all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together. In him all things hold together, not apart from him, not occasionally through him, but through him through him. And I think sometimes we struggle with dependency on God because dependency requires surrender. It requires admitting I cannot do this well on my own. And let's be honest, our culture celebrates self sufficiency so much that we forget how deeply dependent we truly are on God. John fifteen five reminds us I am the vine, you are the branches, if you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit. Apart from me you can do nothing. Nothing, not lasting peace, not lasting transformation, not lasting fulfillment. Everything meaningful flows from connection to Him. And while some days focus on rededicating a nation, I kept feeling this question rise in my spirit. Have we rededicated our own hearts? Because it's easy to talk about a country returning to God while privately drifting from Him ourselves. Joel two twelve thirteen says Even now, declares the Lord, return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning. Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity with all your heart, not partially, not casually, not once in a while, but fully. Jesus is not meant to be a small part of our lives. He is not meant to be something we reach for only in crisis. He is life itself. And I think many of us want the benefits of God without truly abiding in him. Matthew six hundred thirty three says, but seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Seek first, not after everything else, not only when convenient, but first. And maybe that's why the image of the lamb matters so deeply, because the lamb reminds us of sacrifice, of surrender, of salvation. Jesus did not shed his blood so we could live disconnected from him. He died so we can reconcile back to the Father. Revelation five verse twelve reminds us in a loud voice they were singing, Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise. Worthy not just of our words, but of our lives. So friends, what does this mean for us? It means we stop building our identity around temporary things and anchor ourselves in Christ. It means we stop treating Jesus like an addition to our lives and recognize him as the foundation of it. It means we daily rededicate ourselves to him, our hearts, our thoughts, our priorities, our dependence. Today I encourage you to sit with this. What has quietly taken center stage in your life that belongs at the feet of Jesus instead? Let me pray. Jesus, thank you for being the way, the truth, and the life. Thank you that in a world filled with noise, distraction, and misplaced devotion, you remain constant. Lord, forgive us for the moments where we have placed other things above you, whether knowingly or unknowingly. Teach us to depend on you fully. Father, rededicate our hearts back to you. Help us seek you first, not just in moments of need, but daily. Align our lives around your truth and remind us that apart from you we could do nothing. Worthy is the Lamb. In Jesus' name, amen. Thank you for joining me at the table today. If this conversation encourages you, share it with a friend who may need it too. Until next time, may God bless you, guide you, and remind you that you're never alone.
