In this episode of Round Table Conversations with Yolimar, we explore a question many of us quietly carry: What is God doing when He's silent?

If you've ever found yourself praying and waiting… yet hearing nothing in return, this conversation is for you.

Together, we gently reframe what silence can mean, not as absence, but as a different kind of presence. A presence where God is still listening, still loving, and still working, even when we don’t hear or see immediate answers.

We also talk about the wilderness, not as a place of punishment, but as a space of preparation. A place where God does deep, unseen work within us. Where He refines, strengthens, and draws us closer, even in the quiet.

Through Scripture, reflection, and honest conversation, this episode is an invitation to trust God not only when He speaks, but also when He is still.

If you're in a season that feels quiet or unclear, you're not alone. And more importantly… you're not without Him.

And thank you for joining me on another episode of Round Table Conversations with Yolimar, a space for real faith-centered conversations about life. I'm Yolimar, and I invite you to come with an open heart and mind as we grow together in truth, healing, and God's love. Have you ever prayed and felt like heaven was quiet? Not a clear yes, not a clear no, just silence? It can leave you with questions, wondering what God is doing or what this season is meant for. But what if that silence isn't distance? What if it's a different kind of work? What if it's a wilderness season? When we hear the word wilderness, we often think of emptiness, isolation, lack. But throughout scripture, the wilderness is not a place where God abandons his people. It's where he formed them. And if I'm being honest, I'm in a season like that right now, a quiet season, a stretching season, not one where everything feels clear, but one where I can sense that God is doing something deeper. Even if I can't fully see that yet, I found myself praying, God please change this, wanting clarity, wanting direction, wanting things to move. But in the quiet I've realized maybe this isn't about God changing everything around me, maybe this is about what he's doing within me, teaching me to trust him without needing all the answers. Luke four verse one says Then Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan River. He was led by the Spirit into the wilderness. He was led, not pushed away, not forgotten, he was led by the Holy Spirit. And in those wilderness seasons it can feel pretty quiet, because God isn't always speaking loudly, He's working deeply. Isaiah forty five three reminds us and I will give you treasures hidden in the darkness, secret riches. I will do this so you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, the one who calls you by name. Hidden places not everything God does is visible right away. Some things are formed in the quiet. And this is where I kept coming back to this thought. We are not being destroyed in these seasons, we are being refined, just like something valuable is processed under pressure, like diamonds, they're not formed under pressure and refined to break them, but to reveal their strength. Isaiah forty eight ten reminds us Behold, I have refined you, but not as silver, I have tested you in the furnace of affliction. Refined, not rejected, tested, not abandoned. So if you're in a season right now where things feel quiet, unclear, or maybe even a little heavy, it doesn't mean God has stepped back. It may mean He's doing something that requires stillness. Psalm one hundred thirty nine verses seven through ten say Where can I go from your spirit or where can I flee from your presence? If I ascend into heaven you are there. If I make my bed in hell, behold you are there. If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me. Even there, even in the quiet, even in the wilderness, God is still there. So let's redefine this. God's silence does not mean abandonment. It means he is still present. It does not mean he isn't listening. It means he has already heard. It does not mean he isn't working. It means he's working in places you can't yet see. And the wilderness that's not punishment, that's preparation. James one verses two through four say consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Produces there is something being built in you. So what does this mean for us? It means we don't run from the quiet, we lean into it, we don't assume God has left, we trust that He is forming something in us. We stop asking, why is this happening? And start asking, God, what are you doing in me through this? Today I encourage you to sit with this. What if this quiet season in your life is not God stepping away, but God drawing you deeper? Let me pray. God, thank you that you are present even when you are quiet. Thank you that the wilderness is not a place of abandonment, but a place of transformation. I pray for the women right now who feels like she's in a silent season. Remind her, Lord, that you are near, remind her that you are working, even in ways she cannot yet see. Give her peace in the waiting, strength in the process, and faith to trust you in the quiet. Father, refined her, not to break her, but to build her. In your holy and precious name. Amen. Thank you for joining me at the table today. If this conversation encouraged you, share it with a friend who may need it too. Until next time, may God bless you, guide you, and remind you that you're never alone.
